Description
'LSU Purple' is an outstanding variety of fresh eating developed by researchers at Louisiana State University. Very tolerant of sun, heat, and drought with good resistance to pests and diseases. Survives in Zone 7, however fruit production is variable. In Zone 9 or higher, reliably produces a spring and summer crop. The skin of ripe fruit is black and slightly wrinkled. Versatile selection can be grown as a small tree or large shrub. The fruit is good for canning, jellies, and eating fresh. Nice for larger patio containers. 10'H x 10'W.
