Description
The Illini Hardy variety is thorny, measuring 5-6 feet tall, easy to maintain in tight spaces. It is best grown in its own designated garden space or in an isolated area of an edible garden. It should only be grown in full sun. It does best in medium to even moisture conditions but does not tolerate standing water.
The fruits are mature by the end of July. It produces an excellent crop of shiny black, flavorful, medium-sized fruit. The berries have a sweet taste and juicy texture used for fresh consumption, preserves and jams.
Resistant to phytophthora. Hardiness zone: 4 to 6
